An Evening with Tea Growers in North America

The third instalment of our incredibly popular series with tea growers around the globe. This event takes us to North America where we will meet tea growers in Canada and America.

Eva Lee, who grows tea on the slopes of Kilauea Volcano on Hawaii Island, was a pioneer grower when she first planted tea in her forest garden in Volcano Village. She processes her own tea, harvests other growers’ tea and processes that too, and has been a driving force behind the development of a thriving tea movement in Hawaii.

Eva’s neighbour Alex Wood has a small plot of tea on rocky volcanic soil at Volcano Winery and uses an infusion of the tea, blended with macadamia nut honey, to make a delicious “tea wine.”

Victor Vesely and Margit Nellemann have been growing tea on Vancouver Island, Canada, since 2010 and now sell their single-origin, hand-processed Canadian terroir teas. They also sell Margit’s ceramic teapots and other tea inspired vessels.

And Raj Vable, founder of Young Mountain Tea, doesn’t grow tea in the US but works with 850 tea farmers across India and Nepal to raise the quality of their teas and directly import and sell them to US tea aficionados.

All 4 of these dedicated tea entrepreneurs have a lot to tell, so book your place now for this next event in our series of ‘Meet the Tea Growers’.

This Academy Extra webinar will be held on the Zoom platform, ending with time for questions.
