Tasting of Japanese Hojicha Teas with Asako Steward

Although Hojicha is often regarded as a common drink, Mr. Suzuki of Suzuki seicha is taking Hojicha seriously. His tea is grown organically and first flush leaves are used. In this class, UKTA Tutor and Japanese tea expert Asako Steward will introduce you to three of Mr. Suzuki’s Hojichas: light, medium, and deep roast. Suzuki Seicha's white and green teas just won Highly commended awards at this year's Leafies International Tea Awards!
Hojicha is a green tea but it is brown in appearance because it is roasted after processing. Just like coffee, the roasting time and temperature determine the taste of Hojicha.
After tasting these expertly made Hojichas, you will see that this inexpensive everyday tea is so much more interesting than you think!
