Ceylon Tea and Dried Fruit Pairing

A 90-minute webinar hosted by Suranga Perera and Jane Pettigrew.

The teas will be sent to you and for the event we ask that you prepare 4 types of dried fruit.

As you may already know from previous Ceylon UKTA tea and food pairing events, there are changes afoot in the Ceylon tea industry. As well as the traditional range of wonderful teas still being made on the island, some producers have been thinking outside the tea box and are offering some amazing new types of tea that we would like you to taste and enjoy.

You may have already tasted some of these new teas during Ceylon tea events that we held last year. But, this time, we’re pairing the teas with dried fruits such as dried pineapple, dried mango, dried banana, raisins, dates, apricots, etc. We’ve never done this before and it will be fascinating to hear your comments as you taste with us.


WHAT WE WILL TASTE:

During this special Tea and Dried Fruits pairing event, we will pair 4 different dried fruits with 4 high-quality teas from different regions of Sri Lanka. The teas have been chosen specially to represent some of Sri Lanka’s different types of tea from different regions.

The teas we will taste are:

  1. Somerset Tea BOP from Dimbula region
  2. Mattakelle Golden Curls, also from Dimbula but with a very different flavour profile
  3. Lumbini FBOPFEXSP from Ruhuna region
  4. New Vithanakanda FBOPFEXSP from Sabaragamuwa region

We suggest that you try to have the following 4 dried fruits ready. However if you have allergies or can’t find these fruits where you are, then please chose from the substitute list or whatever you prefer and can buy nearby.

We have chosen the following:

  • Dried mango
  • Dried apricots
  • Dates
  • Dried banana slices

If you can’t get those, try and substitute with any of the following:

  • Dried figs
  • Dried pineapple
  • Raisins
  • Dried goji berries
  • Dried blueberries

It will be a fascinating evening, with the opportunity to discuss the wonderful teas from Sri Lanka and to ask questions as we pair them with your selection of dried fruits.



What will I need?

  • Your phone, computer or tablet to join the webinar via Zoom
  • Brewing equipment (kettle, teapot etc.) and a surface on which to brew the teas during the webinar
  • A selection of 4 different dried fruits to pair with the teas we will send you (see above)

Please note, international bookings are now closed, to allow for packing and postage of teas.

UK bookings will close 1 week before the event.

Things to know:

  • We cannot ship to PO Boxes
  • Once teas have been shipped, we cannot refund the ticket price if you cannot attend.
